Who Is Aaron?
My name is Aaron D. Wilson, but most folks just call me “AD.” I’m a husband, a father, a public servant, a man of faith, and a proud resident of Lebanon, Tennessee. I’m running for Wilson County Commissioner, District 20, because I believe in people, in possibility, and in the power of showing up.
I’m not a polished politician. I’m a neighbor. I’m someone who’s walked through storms, learned hard lessons, and grown stronger on the other side. I know what it means to struggle, and I know what it means to rise and I want to help others do the same.
A Life Built on Family and Faith
I was born in West Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and raised just outside Detroit, Michigan. Those two places, one Southern, one Midwestern, instilled in me a love for community and a deep respect for hard work. Eventually, I found my way to Lebanon, Tennessee, and fell in love with the people, the values, and the sense of home I found here.
My wife Tiffanie and I are raising four beautiful kids, Zion, Zach, Zarai, and Zamir, right here in Wilson County. They are my greatest joy and my greatest motivation. Everything I do is about building a future where they and every other child in this county can thrive.
Faith is the foundation of everything I am. I’m a Christian who believes deeply in grace, redemption, and second chances. I’m not perfect, but I strive every day to walk in purpose and lead with humility.
The Breaking Point That Changed Everything
There was a time in my life when I was over 400 pounds, overwhelmed, and quietly drowning under the weight of stress and silence. I was physically sick, mentally exhausted, and emotionally disconnected. I knew I had a choice to make: either let life keep happening to me or fight for it.
I chose to fight.
With prayer, discipline, and community support, I began the slow, difficult process of healing. Over time, I lost more than 220 pounds—but the transformation was much deeper than physical. I confronted years of emotional pain, sought mental health care, and was eventually diagnosed as neurodivergent. That journey not only saved my life it gave me a new one.
I learned how many people suffer in silence. I learned how stigma and shame can keep us from asking for help. And I learned that transformation is possible not just for individuals, but for families, neighborhoods, and communities.
Why I’m Stepping Forward
I’ve worked behind the scenes for years in county government, serving as the IT Manager for Wilson County. I’ve seen firsthand how systems work and where they break down. I’ve watched everyday folks get left behind, not because people don’t care, but because no one is advocating loudly enough for them.
That’s why I’m stepping up not to chase a title, but to be the advocate I once needed.
I’m running because I know what it feels like to be overlooked, underestimated, and overwhelmed. And I also know what it feels like to overcome.
This campaign isn’t about ego. It’s about empathy. It’s about showing up, listening closely, and leading with both courage and compassion.
This Is Personal
When I say I care about Wilson County, I’m not talking about it like a map. I’m talking about the people I see every day in the grocery store, at church, at football games, and in pickup lines. I’m talking about the veterans, the single parents, the working families, and the kids who need someone to fight for their future the way I fight for my own.
If there’s one thing I’ve learned in this life, it’s that showing up matters. And that’s what I intend to do every day, in every room, for every person who calls this county home.
I’m Aaron D. Wilson. And I’m running to serve you.
